Sunday February 5, 2017 Winter Hike in Lewis Morris Moderately Strenuous
Today we will be exploring the trails of Lewis Morris Park. Starting by the frozen Sunrise Lake we will start a long loop thru Lewis Morris and perhaps we will venture into Jockey Hollow as well. Possible snow shoe hike depending on the snow conditions.

From I-287 South Exit 35 Morristown: Turn right at traffic light and bear right at next traffic light onto South St. Continue to Morristown Green and go around 3 sides of the green turning on to Washington St. (Rt-510 west)(Becomes Mendham Rd.). Go 2.8 miles to park entrance on the left, just after passing Whitehead Road on the right. Continue on Park Rd 0.6 mi and turn right from the park road, down to Sunrise Lake. Sunday February 19, 2017 South Mountain Reservation Moderately Strenuous
This hike of about 8 miles will include the Lenape (yellow), Turtle Back (orange) and Rahway (white) trails. We will pass scenic views, historic points, and a waterfall, and cover a large portion of the park.

From I-280 Exit Pleasant Valley Way: Take Pleasant Valley Way south (becomes Cherry Lane and then Brookside Drive) about 5.5 miles to Glen Ave. at traffic light. Then turn left on Glen Ave. a short distance to Locust Grove Parking Lot (on the left) at the corner of Glen Ave. and Lackawanna Place, across from the Millburn RR station. GPS (40.7266, -74.3048)
Sunday February 26, 2017 D&R Canal Walk, Princeton Moderately Strenuous
A nice hike of about 8.5 mi. along the canal and a side trip to Princeton for a visit and possibly an inside lunch stop if it is very cold! Car Shuttle to Port Mercer Canal House required.

From I-287 Exit 7: Take Rt-206 south approx. 14 miles to Rt-518. Turn left onto Rt-518 (Washington St.) toward Rocky Hill. Continue ½ mi toward town and take a right at Rt-605 (Crescent Ave) In 0.4 mi at a Stop Sign bear right onto River Rd. Continue on Rt-605 1¾ mi to the intersection of Rt-27 in Kingston. Make a left turn at light and go ¼ mi to a right turn into Canal Parking area. GPS (40.3745, -74.6179)
