Garrett Mountain Reservation on the top of the First Watchung Range, offers splendid views of nearby Paterson City, Turkey Mtn., High Mtn., and also to the northwest as far as Schunemunk Mountain. Perhaps a side trip to Great Falls can be made after the hike.          Rain will cancel this hike

Meet: 9:00 AM    Home Depot, Riverview Dr. & Rt-46 (westbound Side), Totowa, NJ 07512

From I-80 Westbound: Exit 55 Union Ave: Go south ½ mi to Rt-48 West. Then west for ½ mi. to Riverview Dr., stay on Rt-46 and proceed past underpass to first entrance to Mall. Park on “Coconuts” (south side) of Home Depot.

From I-80 Eastbound Exit 53 Wayne Rt-46: Go east on Rt-46 1 mi. to Riverview Dr. Exit after going under underpass toward Wayne. Proceed north over Rt-46 on Riverside Dr. to Mall entrance on left. Park on “Coconuts” (south side) of Home Depot.

Sunday        March 14, 2010               Shore Path from Fort Lee Historic Park                               Strenuous

Will hike the Shore Path with beautiful views across the Hudson. 9 miles Rain or poor driving conditions cancels.

Meet: 9:00 AM    Fort Lee Historic Park, Hudson Terrace, Fort Lee, NJ 07024.

From Rt-4, Rt-46, I-80: Proceed east to the George Washington Bridge Area. and exit at the sign “last exit before the tolls." Continue on this ramp (parallel to the bridge approaches) crossing several lights until the “T” intersection with Hudson Terrace. The Park entrance is straight ahead.

Sunday March 21, 2010                      Blue Heron Lake & Mahlon Dickerson Reservation                       Moderate

We will start from Saffin Pond and walk woods roads to Blue Heron Lake in the Weldon Brook Wildlife Management Area, continue on to Mahlon Dickerson and back to the start via marked and unmarked trails for a total of about 8 mi.

From Rt. 80 Exit 34B (Rt-15 North): Go about 5 mi. to Weldon Rd. on right. Exit and continue north about 3 mi. to Saffin Pond Parking on the right.

Sunday        March 28, 2010               Highlands Trail – Byram to Stephens State Park                  Moderately Strenuous

This hike takes us through Allamuchy State Park and along the Muscenetcong River to Stephens State Park. At Lunch we’ll enjoy the view from the top of Allamuchy Mt. After a steep descent we can visit an old Indian Village, as well as Old Historic Waterloo Village. About 8 miles total. Continuous rain  cancels.           Shuttle Required
