Sunday                  March 5, 2017         Trails in South Stokes SP          Strenuous

From Stony Lake we will take the Lackner Trail to Kittatinny Lake. Then we pick up the Steffen and Jacob’s Ladder trails up to the AT. We’ll stay on the AT to Culver’s Tower with a stop at the Acropolis along the way. Back down to the parking lot via the Tower trail. The hike is approximately 10 miles in length.

From I-80 West Exit 34B: Take Rt-15 north about 17 mi. to Rt-206 (Rt-15 ends). Continue straight on Rt-206 north 6+ mi. towards Culvers Gap and AT trail crossing sign. Proceed an additional mi. and the Park Entrance is on the right off Rt-206. Drive by the Ranger Station (Warm John’s) on Coursen Rd about 2 mi bear sharp right and continue mi to parking lot on left.

Sunday      March 12, 2017        High Mountain Preserve           Moderately Strenuous

High Mountain on the Second Mtn. Ridge has 360 views over most of Northern NJ, and on to the Palisades and NYC. IHC had its origin in 1931 by splitting from the Paterson Ramblers; on this mountain. This 9 to 10 mile hike explores most of the Park. Perhaps a Shuttle.

Meet: 9:00 AM                  High Mountain Preserve, Red Trail Parking Lot, University Rd, Wayne NJ 07470

From I-80 East Exit 53 Rt- 46, Wayne: Go east 1mi on Rt-46, and make an Extreme Right Lane Exit to Riverview Dr (north direction). Then drive north 1 mi on Riverview Dr. towards Wayne and turn right onto Valley Rd. (by golf course). Drive 3 mi, turn right onto Hamburg Turnpike. Continue 1 mi. and turn left onto University Rd. Drive up hill mi, past stop sign, to trail head parking lot on LEFT.

From 1-80 West Exit 55, Union Ave: Go south mi to Rt-46 West. Then drive west for mi. to Riverview Dr. Exit, (north direction.) Then proceed as above.    GPS (40.9520,-74.2002)

Sunday       March 19, 2017    Silver Mine Circular      Moderately Strenuous/Strenuous

This hike begins at The Silver Mine Parking/Picnic area. Depending on the day we will go clockwise or counter clockwise

 on this hike. Do not bring your maps as I do not want to get confused. I will try to go by my memory!!! If I can still remember things at my age! Maybe the trails will still be there.       Rain, Snow or Foul Weather cancels this hike.

From Suffern @ I-87 & I-287 Interchange Exit 15A: Take Rt-17 north 4.5 miles, to Seven Lakes Drive, just north of Sloatsburg,

New York. Turn right onto Seven Lakes Drive; go 12.6 miles. Silver Mine Picnic/Parking Area is on the right.

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway Exit 18 @ intersection of PIP & Rt-6: Go north to Long Mountain Circle, and then take

Seven Lakes Drive west 1.5 miles to Silver Mine Picnic/Parking Area on left.  GPS (41.2960,-74.0592)

Sunday                  March 26, 2017           Tuxedo Circular                Strenuous

We will go north on the R-D to Tom Jones Mountain.  After that whatever trails we can find that will eventually lead us back to Tuxedo.                        Rain or Foul Weather cancels this hike.                  Possibly 10+ Miles

From Suffern @ I-87 & I-287 Interchange Exit 15A: Take R-17 about 6.5 miles north to Tuxedo. Just past the Tuxedo train station, turn right on East Village Rd, cross the tracks and turn left into the large parking lot which is free on weekends.     GPS (41.1956, -74.1841)
