Sunday        November 1, 2009           Blue Mountain – AT–Buttermilk Falls Loop            Moderately Strenuous

We will drive to the Blue Mountain parking lot just past Millbrook Village. We will hike the cross country ski trails along Blue Mt. Lake to Hemlock Pond and then follow the Woods Trail to Buttermilk Falls. Our return trip will follow the Appalachian Trail to Crater Lake and have views of Long Pine Pond (private). A high elevation scenic hike of about 8 mi.

From I-80 West Exit 12: After exiting I-80, make a right onto Rt-521 northbound (Hope – Blairstown Rd.). Go about 0.05 mi. to parking on left.

 

Saturday     November 7, 2009           Bicycle— Sargeantsville Circular                              Moderately Strenuous

Scenic Bike Ride in central NJ. Will go over a covered bridge and enjoy a quiet ride down old country roads. Bring lunch and plenty of water. Helmets required. Rain cancels.

From: I-287 Exit 17; Rt-202/206 South: Take Rt-202 south 14+ mi. to the Flemington Circle. Take Rt-12 West 0.9 mi to Rt‑523/Sergeantsville Rd. (Name changes to Stockton-Flemington Rd.) Take Rt-523 south for 5.7 mi. to Sergeantsville. At crossroads turn left onto Rosemont-Ringoes Rd, continue 0.4 mi to school on right.

Sunday        November 8, 2009           Anthony Wayne to the Timp & Back                                     Strenuous

We will go over West Mountain on the Timp-Torne, then on over to the TIMP. Coming back on the RD and some other Trails.                   Rain or Foul Weather cancels this hike.

From the South: Exit 17 on the Palisades Interstate Parkway (Exit is 15 miles north of the NYS Thruway).

From the North: Exit 17 on the Palisades Interstate Parkway. (Exit is ½ mi. south of the Rt-6 and Seven Lakes Dr. Intersection.)

 

Sunday        November 15, 2009         Hasenclever Iron to Monks Trail                                          Moderate

We will hike about 8 mi. from the Sterling Ridge trailhead at Hewitt to the Hasenclever Iron Trail, the new Monks Connector Trail, to the Monks loop with lunch at the Monks outlook. Returning somewhat the same way with a possible detour to the Patterson mine. Also, a possible early out with a road walk.

From I-287 Exit 55: Take Rt-511 (Ringwood Ave.) north about 11 miles to junction of Greenwood Lake Turnpike and East Shore Drive. (Ringwood Ave. becomes Greenwood Lake Tpk.) Parking is on the left side of the road.

 

Sunday        November 22, 2009         Reeve Meadow Circular                                            Moderately Strenuous

We will head south on the Reeves Brook trail with some spectacular scenery, then the Seven Hills & HTS with some great views.  We will go down the Cascade of Slid to end this beautiful hike. Rain or Foul Weather cancels this hike.

From Suffern @ I-87N & I-287 Interchange Exit 15A: Take Rt-17 North 4½ miles to Seven Lakes Dr, just north of Sloatsburg, NY. Turn right and proceed east on Seven Lakes Dr. 1½ miles to Reeves Meadow Visitor Center on right, or park across the street

 

Sunday        November 29, 2009         Schiff to Scherman-Hoffman (11 Miles)                                 Strenuous

Patriots Path Series, Part 3: Starting at the Schiff Reservation, we’ll pick up the PP to trek through Lewis Morris, Cross Estates, and Scherman-Hoffman Audubon Sanctuary. Shuttle Required on this one way shuttle trip. Rain cancels.

From: I-287 Exit 30: Go north on Rt-202 for 1.8 miles to traffic light at Tempe Wick Rd. Go left (West) 1.4 miles to Park Entrance on right. Proceed ½ mile to parking lot.
