Now that the cool weather is upon
us, let’s get out and smell the clean winter air! There are numerus trails
around this Center, some are on elevated boardwalks with views of the Passaic
River flowing thru the marshes and others around the ponds. The displays in the
Center are worth the trip alone. About 6 miles total.

10, 2023 Hamburg WMA Moderately Strenuous
This
moderately difficult hike, in the very lightly trafficked Hamburg Mountain
Wildlife Management Area, starts at Silver Lake and follows unblazed woodland
trails and fire roads. There are a few small stream crossing and nice views of
lakes and woodlands trails. A communication tower, along the way, has views,
for hikers, of Pochuck Mountain Ridge and Hamburg valley. Map: NYNJ TC –Trail Map #116

the right. Dive in to Lake Parking Lot. Note! Silver Lake Rd. name changes to

hike up Hogencamp and Surebridge Mountains with Bowling Rocks, Goldthwaite
Memorial, Times Square and a few mines along the way. Approximately 7 miles

Loop Moderately Strenuous
Will start the hike from D&R
canal parking in Frenchtown and head north to Millford. Over the bridge there
and come back the Penn side. Will stop at nice bakery with warm things in
Millford for a snack. Hike is mostly flat 8.5 miles.

From I-78W Exit 15: Stay left at exit for left turn onto Rt-513. Follow
Rt-513 south about 11 miles to the center of Frenchtown at Rt-29. Turn right
onto Bridge St.; (Not Rt-29) and proceed to Canal St, the last street on the
left, before Frenchtown/Uhlerstown Bridge. Parking Area is along the road.
