Wawayanda Lake with a stop at a Historic Furnace and a sojourn out to Lake
Lookout and the Pickle Trail. We will explore the Boulder Garden on our return

From I-287 Exit 55: Go north on Ringwood Ave. (Rt-511) (name changes to Greenwood Lake
Tpk.) about 13 miles to Warwick Tpk. at south end of Greenwood Lake. Continue
straight-ahead 5 mi. on Warwick Turnpike past Upper Greenwood Lake. Turn left
at park entrance. Continue past the Ranger Station 2¼ mi. to the entrance to
Beach Parking on the left at the north end of Wawayanda Lake.

14, 2024 Hike Fort Nonsense Strenuous
We will meet at Jockey Hollow visitors center
and leave cars. Shuttle the remaining cars to Fort Nonsense and hike back via
the Patriots Path. 10 miles with first 6 miles flat along the old Rockabye
railway. Shuttle required.

From I-287 Exit 30: Take N. Maple northward 0.1 mi to Rt-202 at light. Go right onto Rt-202
Northbound and drive 1.75 mi to the light at Tempe Wick Rd. Take a left onto
Tempe Wick Rd. and continue 1.5 mi to Park Entrance at Jocky Hollow Rd. on the
right. Turn into the Park and continue 0.4 mi to Visitors Center Parking lot
(by the flagpole).

Reservoir Moderately Strenuous
Will
start at Pyramid Mtn. Hike over to and around Butler Reservoir, then return to
Pyramid Mtn visitors center. Hike is 8.5 miles. Very pretty views of the
reservoir but some road walking.

From the South:
I-287 Exit 45 Wootton Avenue (Boonton): Take first left (Wooton Ave.) and
go under I-287. Follow Wootton Ave straight up the hill ½ mi to blinker light.
Turn right on Boonton Ave (Rt-511) and continue about 3 miles to Morris County
Park parking lot on the left.
From the North: I-287 Exit 52, to Rt-23 north: Go 2 miles north on Rt-23 to Boonton Ave (Rt-511
south). Exit is a right-hand jug-handle turn. Follow Rt-511 south 4 miles to
Morris County Park parking lot on the right.

Whittemore Nature Preserve Moderate
This is a 6.5 mi. loop hike
around fields, the Rockaway creek and woods in Whittemore Conservation center.
It is hilly and pretty along the river. We will start from a field parking lot
along Rockaway Road.

From I-287 & I-78 intersection: Take I-78 westward 5.6 mi to Exit-24 @ Oldwick Road.
Exit and drive North along Oldwick Rd. 0.35 mi. Make a left on Rockaway Road
