Sunday July 2, 2023 Capoolong Creek Trail Moderately Strenuous
We will start on the Landsdown trail and then
follow Capoolong Creek trail. This will be an 8-to-9-mile hike. It is all rails
to trails. The hike is flat, but pretty along the Capoolong Creek. The trail is
well kept, sometimes there are horses passing through - so watch your step!

From Intersection of I-287 & I-78: Merge onto I-78
W toward Easton, PA and drive 14 miles. Take Exit 15 and from right lane at
intersection merge onto Rt-173 East toward Clinton. Drive 0.4 mi to just before
the Exxon on the right. Turn in to parking lot (P sign) just before Exxon and
drive to the rear into Fox Lumber parking. Fox Lumber is closed on Sundays. GPS (40.6348, -74.9122)

9, 2023 Breakneck Mountain from Diltz
Lane Moderately Strenuous
This hike, about 8 miles long,
not to be confused with Breakneck Ridge, explores a relatively quiet section of
southeastern Harriman St. Park. We'll
follow a loop along the Tuxedo-Mt. Ivy, Breakneck Mountain, Suffern-Bear
Mountain, and Red Arrow trails. Along
the way, we'll see dense woods, mountain laurel, open rock slabs and interesting
rock formations, and some nice views of Breakneck Pond and the Hudson Valley.

16, 2023 Farny State Park
Strenuous
This will be a 10-mile hike along
parts of the four birds trail in Farny State Park. We will also get to a couple
of pretty lookout points over Charlottesburg Reservoir. There used to be an
industrial town of Charlottesburg under all that water. Part of the hike will
be on old rail beds that lead to that town.

From I-80, Exit 37: Take Green Pond Rd. (Rt-513) north for 6.5 miles and turn right at
the Marcella Community Center, onto Timberbrook Road. Continue 1¼ miles on
Timberbrook Rd. to gravel parking lot on left. Avoid left on Jacobs Rd. The lot
is just before you enter Camp Winnebago.
From I-287, Exit 52: Take Rt-23 north 8.9 miles to Green Pond Rd. (Rt-513) south (jug
handle). Proceed south 5.2 miles to Marcella Community Center, turn left, onto Timberbrook
Rd. Continue 1¼ miles on Timberbrook to gravel parking lot on left. Avoid left

on Pompton Lake Easy
IHC Members and Families only Please. First,
we will hike along the Pompton Feeder Canal, observe the Old Locks and Feeder
Dam. Afterwards we drive back to Kientzler’s house
for a swim in the lake, no pool anymore, (don’t forget a bathing suit &
swim fins) and then a picnic. Bring a dish to share and/or something to cook.
Charlie will have the grill going. If you wish, bring a door prize
contribution. Rain does not cancel the Picnic!

Ridge Rd. (Rt-202) Turn left and follow Rt-202 northbound 0.8 mi to light at
Hamburg Turnpike. Following Rt-202 left, drive 0.8 mi to light for Terhune Dr
on right. (By CVS) Turning right and continue on Terhune Dr (Rt-202) 1.5 mi to
wide parking area on left at 683 Terhune Dr.
Hikers: Park and walk to and down #711 driveway. House

Non-Hikers: Party starts at Noon. From I-287 North Exit 58: On exiting turn left at light and proceed 0.1 mi to
Rt-202 (Ramapo Valley Rd). Turn right (southbound), drive 1 mi to light where
Rt-202 turns right. Follow Rt-202 0.9 mi to #711 driveway on right, and (Non-walkers)
pull all the way down to the house. or (Walkers) #683 parking just ahead.
