7, 2024 Hike Kittatinny State Park Moderately Strenuous
This is a mostly flat, 7 - 8 mile hike
on rail trails and some trails in the woods on the Andover Loop Trail. It
circumnavigates Kittatinny Valley State Park and Lake Aeroflex (deapest Lake in
NJ) incorporating pieces of the Sussex Branch Trail, Hillside
Park/Goodale Trail, old Lehigh and Hudson River RR right of way, and trails in
Kittatinny Valley State park. Bring lunch and water.

From I-80W Exit 25: Take Rt-206 north thru Andover 7.5 mi to Goodale Rd on the right. Goodale
is about 1 mi after the Andover light. Turning into Goodale drive I mi to park
entrance on right. Turn in and drive about 1 mi to visitor center complex.

Nose Moderately
Strenuous
This hike of about 9 miles will start from Lake
Minnewaska parking lot using the Millbrook Mountain Trail for the view from the
almost vertical cliffs. Then enjoy lunch at Gertrude’s Nose along with fabulous
views and large cliffs. We return via Peterson’s Pellet to the Minnewaska Lake
& cars. Note that there is a $10 per car parking fee so carpooling is
encouraged.

From I-87 North (New York State
Thruway) Exit 18: Turn left onto
NY-299 (Main St) and follow through New Paltz about 7.5 miles to right turn
onto US-44/55. Proceed 4.4 miles to Park entrance on left. Proceed straight
ahead from the toll booth up the hill for about 0.7 miles to Lake parking area

Hike/Picnic on Pompton Lake
Moderate
IHC Members and Families only Please. We shall Hike to Ramapo Lake and enjoy
the views as we circumnavigate
the lake. Afterwards we drive back to Kientzler’s house for a swim in the lake,
no pool anymore, (don’t forget a bathing suit & swim fins) and then a
picnic. Bring a dish to share and/or something to cook. Charlie will have the
grill going. If you wish, bring a door prize contribution. Rain does not
cancel the Picnic!

exit ramp onto Skyline Drive. Drive uphill 0.1 mile to Parking on he left.

From Hike to Kientzler House: Proceed down Skyline Drive to
intersection with West Oakland Ave at light. Proceed straight ahead and follow
Weat Oakland Ave for 0.9 mi to Doty Rd on the left. Follow Doty Rd. 0.3 mi to
the intersection with Rt-202 (Ramapo Valley Rd.) Turn right and follow Rt-202
½ mi to Kientzler’s #711 driveway on
right, Pass it and continue one house further to #683 parking just ahead
on right side of the very wide sholder of
Rt-202 and walk down #711 diveway.

We will hike 8 miles starting at Muriel Hepner Nature
park to to Johnathan Woods and back. Johnathan Woods has some very pretty CCC
Pine Forests to see. There will be about 1 mile walking on a quiet back road
called Florence Ave.

Denville: Exit onto Rt-46 Eastbound. Go past first light and at 0.6 mi make a left
U-turn at light for Lakewood Drive. Drive 0.1 mi on Rt-46 West and exit
onto Bloomfield Avenue going west.

Driving on Bloomfield bear slight right onto Broadway then right and the
light onto Diamond Spring road. Drive ½

I-287 Intersection: Take Rt-80 westward 0.8 mi to Exit 42A Cherry Hill Rd. Drive Northward 0.6
mi on Cherry Hill Rd to its end at the Intersection with Rt-46. Turn left
Westbound onto Rt-46 and drive 0.8 mi to Bloomfield Rd. which is just after the
light at Lakewwd Dr. (“small sign” look for Sogo Hibachi Grill) Proceed ½ mi on
Bloomfield, bearing right at the split onto Broadway. Continue to the light at
Diamond Spring Rd. Turning right continue ½ mile to the Park Entrance on
