Sunday     March 3, 2024            Farny State Park        Strenuous

This will be a 10-mile hike along parts of the four birds trail in Farny State Park. We will also get to a couple of pretty lookout points over Charlottesburg Reservoir. There used to be an industrial town of Charlottesburg under all that water. Part of the hike will be on old rail beds that lead to that town.

From I-80, Exit 37: Take Green Pond Rd. (Rt-513) north for 6.5 miles and turn right at the Marcella Community Center, onto Timberbrook Road. Continue 1¼ miles on Timberbrook Rd. to gravel parking lot on left. Avoid left on Jacobs Rd. The lot is just before you enter Camp Winnebago.

From I-287, Exit 52: Take Rt-23 north 8.9 miles to Green Pond Rd. (Rt-513) south (jug handle). Proceed south 5.2 miles to Marcella Community Center, turn left, onto Timberbrook Rd. Continue 1¼ miles on Timberbrook to gravel parking lot on left. Avoid left on Jacobs Rd. The lot is just before you enter Camp Winnebago.                        GPS Meeting Place (40.9989, -74.4569)

Sunday     March 10, 2024          Stokes State Park           Strenuous

From Stoney Lake parking area we will head south on the Lackner towards Kittatinny Lake and Jacob's Ladder to the AT. Along the way we will take in the Acropolis view, Culver's Gap View point and the Fire Tower, before descending back on the Tower trail to our parking lot. The hike is about 10 miles long with 2 good climbs.

From I-80 West Exit 34B: Take Rt-15 north about 17 mi. to Rt-206 (Rt-15 ends). Continue straight on Rt-206 north 6+ mi. towards Culvers Gap and AT trail crossing sign. Proceed an additional ½ mi. and the Park Entrance is on the right off Rt-206. Turn in and drive by the Ranger Station (Warm John’s) on Coursen Rd about 2 mi, bear sharp right at T intersection to Stoney Lake. Then continue ¼ mi to parking lot on left. (Also, warm John’s)

Sunday     March 17, 2024          Norvin Green               Moderately Strenuous

Join us for a St. Patrick's Day hike in the undisturbed forest and rugged rocky terrain of Norvin Green.  Part of the Wyanokie Wilderness Area, Norvin Green is near Wanaque Reservoir and is home to an extensive trail system which range up to 1,300 feet in elevation and scenic vistas.  Expect a full day of hiking of 7 to 8 miles, hills to climb but the views are well worth it!   This hike is not for beginners.   Bring lunch, snacks, plenty of water.

From I-287 Exit 55: Take Rt-511 (Ringwood Ave.) north 4 miles (becomes Greenwood Tpk) and turn left onto Westbrook Rd. Go west on Westbrook Rd. and make a left at “Y” intersection, then ½ mi. to a left onto Snake Den Road. Sunday     March 24, 2024          Ringing Rocks ─ Riegelsville     Moderately Strenuous

This is an 8-mile hike. We will cross the Riegelsville bridge on foot, then hike the D&L canal path to Ringing Rocks Park. We climb steeply into the park then do a loop which leads to the rock field, a waterfall and a stream. Bring a hammer if you want to ring the rocks. Shuttle required.

From the junction of I-287 and I-78: Take I-78 westward about 19 mi to Exit-11. This exit has a traffic circle and you will follow signs to Pattenburg, Rt-614. Take the circle halfway around to exit on Rt-614 South. Follow Rt-614 southbound for 7.5 mi to the intersection of Rt-519. Turn left and continue on Rt-519, 2.3 mi to the light at Bridge St. Milford, NJ. Turning right continue on Bridge St across the Delaware to the intersection at River Road, PA. Make a right then 2nd left on Bridgeton Hill Rd. Drive 2 mi. and make a left on Ringing Rocks Road.
